Sharing and safety
Share your pet's records, on your terms
Sharing in PetGrid is how you share your pet's records: a care card link for a sitter, kennel or groomer and a one-day code for any vet, so the people looking after your pet see what they need and nothing more.
You choose what each one shows, how long it works and when it stops, and you see when it was opened.

How it works
How it works, step by step
Choose what to show
Tick vaccines, allergies or medicines, add a care note and a phone number if you like, and agree to share.
Choose how long
Pick 1, 3, 7, 14 or 30 days. The link needs no login to open.
Send it
Send the link to the sitter. You see how many times it was opened.
Turn it off
Turn it off when you are home, or let it end on its own.
What you can do
What you can do with it
Make a care card link for a sitter, kennel or groomer, with no login needed to open it.
Tick what it shows: vaccines, allergies and medicines, plus a care note and a phone number.
Choose how long it works (1, 3, 7, 14 or 30 days) and turn it off at any time.
See how many times it was opened.
Give any vet, like an emergency hospital, a six-digit code that works for one day, and see who opened it.
With a PetGrid clinic, invite family members so everyone caring for your pet sees what they need.
Good to know
What it does not do (yet)
- What a care card shows is entered by you and is not checked by a clinic.
- You can choose to show your pet's photo on a shared care card or sitter link. The photo is off by default and only shows while the link is active.
- A vet code works for 24 hours and can be opened at most 10 times.
- Family access needs a PetGrid clinic.
Questions people ask
How do I share my pet's records with a pet sitter?
Make a care card link in the free PetGrid app: you choose what it shows and how long it works, and the sitter opens it with no login. You see how many times it was opened.
What does a sitter see on the care card?
Only what you ticked: vaccines, allergies and medicines, and your care note and phone if you added them. It never shows your name or address. The page says the records were entered by the owner, not verified. You can choose to show your pet's photo on a shared care card or sitter link. The photo is off by default and only shows while the link is active.
How can an emergency vet see my pet's records?
Give them a six-digit code (or its QR code) that works for 24 hours. The vet types it with your pet's name and their own name and clinic, and sees vaccines, medicines, allergies, recent weights and diary notes. You see who opened it, and when.
Can I stop sharing whenever I want?
Yes. Turn a link off at any time and it stops working at once. A code ends on its own after a day.
