Pet reminders that keep care on time

Pet reminders in PetGrid are free alerts for vaccines, monthly preventatives and anything else your pet needs, sent by email, as a phone notification, or both.

Add a vaccine with its next due date and the reminder makes itself, so nothing slips while life gets busy.

How it works

How it works, step by step

  1. Add a reminder

Pick a vaccine, a monthly preventative or something else, and the date it is due.

  2. Choose how often

Choose how often it repeats, from every month to every three years, or not at all.

  3. Choose how to hear

Email, phone notification, or both. At least one.

  4. Get told on time

On the day it is due, PetGrid tells you. Turn reminder emails off any time in Privacy and account.

What you can do

What you can do with it

  • Set reminders for a vaccine, a monthly preventative or anything else your pet needs.

  • Repeat a reminder every 1 to 36 months, or just once.

  • Get it by email, as a phone notification, or both.

  • Get a vaccine reminder made for you when you add a vaccine with a next due date.

  • With a PetGrid clinic, get its reminders too: the day before a visit, care that is due, and medicine dose times.

Good to know

What it does not do (yet)

  • The free app does not send text messages.
  • Each reminder is sent once for its due date; one found more than seven days late is skipped.
  • Phone notifications on an iPhone need the app on your Home Screen.

Questions people ask

How do I get reminders for my pet's vaccines and flea medicine?

Add a reminder in the free PetGrid app, choose how often it repeats and whether it comes by email, phone notification or both. Monthly preventatives repeat every month by default.

Does the notification show my pet's details on the lock screen?

No. The lock screen notification only says a reminder is due, not your pet's name or what it is for. You see the details when you open the app.

Can I get reminders by text message?

The free app sends email and phone notifications, not texts. A PetGrid clinic may text you the day before a visit if it sends texts and you agreed.

Why am I not getting phone notifications on my iPhone?

On an iPhone, add the PetGrid app to your Home Screen first; phone notifications need it. Email works either way.

How do I know when my pet's vaccines are due?

Your vet sets your pet's vaccine schedule. Read the dog and cat vaccine schedule in Canada for the official guidance, then ask your vet.
