Finding careAI

Booking and messages with your PetGrid clinic

Booking and messages in PetGrid let you book a visit online and message your vet clinic in the free app, when your clinic is on PetGrid.

Pick a time, the vet and the pets, send a photo of what worries you, and see when your clinic has read it. What your clinic offers is its choice.

How it works

How it works, step by step

  1. Join your clinic

Find your clinic on the map and join it, or accept the invite your clinic sent.

  2. Book a visit

Choose the reason, the pets, a time and the vet. Your clinic confirms it, or it is booked at once.

  3. Message the clinic

Start a chat, add a photo or a short video, and see when it is read.

  4. Keep it all in one place

Get reminders, records and bills from your clinic in the same app.

What you can do

What you can do with it

  • See open times and book a visit online, for one pet or several, with the vet you choose or anyone.

  • Join the waitlist and get offered a slot that opens up.

  • Cancel or move a visit yourself, inside your clinic's rules.

  • Message your clinic with photos or a short video, and see when your message was read.

  • See your clinic's usual reply time and who to call after hours.

  • Pay bills online and get updates while your pet stays at the hospital, if your clinic offers them.

The AI in it

How the AI helps, and who decides

Your clinic may answer simple questions automatically, labelled as automated; anything medical goes to a person.

What the AI does

  • If your clinic turns them on, automated quick answers reply to simple questions (hours, location, services) from what the clinic taught PetGrid, labelled as automated.
  • If your clinic has the AI Front Desk, it may call the day before a visit to confirm; it says it is an AI first, and you press 1 to confirm or 2 to cancel.

What you decide

Your clinic decides whether automated answers are on, and its team answers everything else. Anything medical, urgent or emotional goes straight to a person, and you can always tap "Ask the team".

How to switch it off

These belong to your clinic and are its choice. Ask your clinic, or tap "Ask the team" to reach a person. You can turn AI off for a pet under Account, Privacy.

Good to know

What it does not do (yet)

  • Booking, messages, payments and hospital updates need a clinic on PetGrid, and each depends on what your clinic turns on.
  • Chat is not for emergencies: call your clinic or an emergency clinic.
  • Video visits are only for pets the clinic has already seen.

Questions people ask

How do I book a vet appointment in the PetGrid app?

When your clinic is on PetGrid and offers online booking, you book in the free app: pick the reason, a time and the vet, and the visit is booked or sent as a request, depending on your clinic.

Can I message my vet clinic in the app?

Yes, with a PetGrid clinic: start a chat in the app, add photos or a short video, and see when it has been read. Your clinic answers during its hours.

Does booking work with any vet?

Booking and messages only work with clinics on PetGrid. Everything else in the app works with any vet. Use find a vet to see which clinics near you are on PetGrid. For a clinic that is not on PetGrid, choose "Ask to book": PetGrid emails the clinic your request once. This is a request, not a booking. The clinic replies to you directly. If the clinic cannot be emailed, PetGrid tells you to call.

Should I use chat in an emergency?

Use chat for questions that can wait. If something seems urgent, call your clinic, or the emergency clinic shown in the app after hours.
