It shows the newest dose of each vaccine you keep in the app, and you decide how long the QR code works.

How it works

How it works, step by step

  1. Record the vaccines

    Add each vaccine with the date it was given and, if you know it, when the next one is due.

  2. Download the card

    Tap "Download the vaccine card" on your pet's page to get the PDF.

  3. Add a QR code

    Make a QR code if you want one. A kennel or groomer scans it and sees the vaccines, nothing else.

  4. Turn it off when you like

    Turn the code off when the stay is over, or leave it: it stops on its own after a year.

What it does not do (yet)

  • The free card is not an official certificate: it says the records were entered by the owner and not verified by a clinic.
  • PetGrid does not issue rabies certificates; your vet does.
  • A QR code works for up to 365 days unless you turn it off sooner.

How do I get a vaccine card for my dog or cat?

Download it from your pet's page in the free PetGrid app: it is a PDF with the newest dose of each vaccine you recorded, and an optional QR code.

Is the PetGrid vaccine card an official rabies certificate?

No. The free card says in bold that the records were entered by the owner and not verified by a clinic. For proof of rabies vaccination, ask your vet for their certificate; read proof of rabies vaccination for daycare and boarding.

What does someone see when they scan the QR code?

The QR code opens a page with your pet's vaccines only: no address, no other records, and the page is kept out of search engines. You can turn it off at any time.

What changes when my clinic is on PetGrid?

When your clinic is on PetGrid and offers it, the vaccination record comes on the clinic's letterhead, and its QR code opens a check page showing the clinic and whether each vaccine is current. Each opening is logged.
